Congratulations to MSc student Kaylen Brzezinski, who was awarded research funds from the Faculty of Science at Carleton. Kaylen has already made great use of these funds to fly off for a visit to the Overgaard lab in Aarhus, Denmark. During her two weeks there, Kaylen learned how to use Ussing chambers to measure rates of transport and permeability of locust epithelia.
Now that she is back, Kaylen will but that training to good use to determine whether and how locust chilling injury is driven by failure of the paracellular barriers in the gut.
