Congratulations to Mads and his co-authors on their recently published article! In this paper, they review the last decade’s research on cold tolerance and osmoregulatory function in insects to show that the capacity to maintain ion homeostasis promotes cold tolerance and that this is driven by an ability to maintain function of the osmoregulatory organs, while also providing important perspectives for future research on the cellular and molecular mechanisms.
